Also bring your own necessities as these are college dorms and do not offer items such as soap, shampoo or lotion. If you have a preference for roommates, please list them on the registration. We will do our best to satisfy everyone. Dorinda Goff will be your “dorm liaison” there to assist you.

When it comes to the sewing areas, our “sewing liaison”, Gayle Scott, will do her best to keep the groups together. We can accommodate up to 20 quilters per room, but not to worry, we have plenty of rooms available. Make sure you list who you would like in your group.

Many of you haven’t had the chance to get away and experience a quilt retreat. Hopefully, this will take care of your wants and desires. Of course, there’s more happening, but this gives you a quick overview of what you can expect. We feel we’ve got some great things planned, and of course, part of the whole experience is sharing your time and talents with others.

Any questions, please call

Beginning Hand Appliqué
Instructor – Susan Magrini from Redding, CA

Have you ever taken a class, worked on the assigned project, and then gotten? home and you didn't know what to do with it? Here is your chance to pick your own project you have wanted to do for years. You bring the appliqué project you are dying to do, in the colors YOU Love. I will teach you the basics of appliqué.

You will learn to make perfect stems, perfect circles, points and valleys (sometimes called the cleavage). This will be a freezer paper method. It is slightly different than one you may have learned in the past, or if you have had trouble needle turning, this might be an alternate method for you. This will be an all day class. I will be on campus for the weekend, should further questions come up.

Early American Medallion Quilt
Instructor – Marty Beyer from Redding, CA

“The Early American Medallion Quilt” incorporates many of the elements of the British medallion quilts as well as the Early American love of star patterns. This quilt was inspired by a quilt top pieced in Virginia about 1790. The pattern for this quilt was created by Cindy Vermillion Hamilton. Basic piecing skills are needed for the construction of this quilt. Come join us for some homespun fun.

Arrow Crown Wreath Quilt
Instructor – Marty Beyer from Redding, CA

This pretty little quilt can be very versatile in its interpretation. It can call in Spring when made with pastels, remind us of days long past in reproduction fabrics, or welcome in the holidays with merry red and green. This design consists of only three block patterns constructed with basic piecing techniques. Come join us for a day of creative camaraderie. Share your interpretation of this fun little quilt. Finished size approximately 58” x 58”

Classes, Classes and More Classes
Crazy Quilt Style Needle Case

Instructor – Mary Anne Melmoth from Redding, CA

This class is a great introduction to Crazy Quilting without having to commit to a whole quilt. In this class you will make a needle case with a Crazy Quilt style cover. You will learn the basic embroidery stitches used in Crazy Quilting as well as silk ribbon embroidery, and bead and charm embellishment. Mary Anne will provide a kit for a minimal fee, so you don't have to worry if you don't have little bits of glitz for Crazy Quilting in your quilt stash!

Machine Trapunto
Instructor – Ann Westbrook from Redding, CA

In this class the students will learn the proper techniques for making the raised designs in a quilt. This is known as Trapunto. It is now done by using the modern methods and some of the new technology of quilting science. The traditional method was a long drawn-out process, requiring many hours of labor. I teach a new method, saving much valuable time and giving a smoother finished product. Trapunto adds so much dimension to a quilt….taking it from ho-hum to WOW!!! Class taught by award-winning instructor, Ann Westbrook.

McTavishing Background Quilting
Instructor – Ann Westbrook from Redding, CA

This is the background quilting style that has come a long way since the days of just stippling everything. It is taken from the designs of the Art Nouveau period of 1880 to 1915. This was when the long, flowing, curved lines were all the rage. Long-arm machine quilter Karen McTavish began using this style in her quilting and it caught on and became known as "McTavishing". This class teaches you how to do the McTavishing on your domestic sewing machine. This style has become very popular and the judges love to see it in the quilt competitions. Award winning quilter, Ann Westbrook, will teach you how it is done.
